Early Innovations

In 1905, FN introduced the world’s first production four-cylinder motorcycle, the FN Four. This 362cc inline-four engine featured a shaft drive, a groundbreaking design that influenced future motorcycle engineering.

Notable Models

  • FN Four (1905-1923): Renowned for its smooth performance and reliability, the FN Four underwent continuous improvements, including increased engine displacement and the addition of multi-speed transmissions.
  • M70 “Sahara” (1920s): A 348cc side-valve single-cylinder model, the M70 earned its nickname after successfully traversing the Sahara Desert, showcasing FN’s commitment to durability and adventure.

Racing Heritage

FN achieved success in both sprint and long-distance motorcycle racing. Notably, an FN Four secured third place in the 1908 Isle of Man TT, marking the first time a four-cylinder machine competed in the event.
